Product description

Marqués de Riscal is the oldest winery in Rioja, founded in 1858. From the outset it has been a point of reference in the winemaking business at both national and international level. Barón de Chirel wine originally appeared in 1986, as a result of a winemaking experiment using a selection of grapes from very old vines, over 80 years old, which give very low yields and high quality.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Dense aroma which opens up slowly to reveal fragrances of spices and a slight recollection of oak with the characteristics of moderate toast. The unfolding of the aromas is slow and therefore persistent. Colour: Intense colour with a dark centre and purple rim which, depending on the highlights, resembles a ruby ring. Palate: In the mouth, overall sensation of smoothness which leaves a very slight final impression of tannin on the centre of the palate. This quickly fades, giving way to sensations of toast along the edge of the tongue where the previous impression of tannin remains, before very slowly slipping down to the area under the tongue. FOOD MATCHES This wine goes well with ham and mature cheese, red meat, poultry, game casseroles such as partridge, rabbit, venison, boar or roebuck, even when cooked in spicy sauces. BEST SERVED AT 16º to 18ºC
