The name of "Cuvée 1522" is a tribute to the year when the Philipponnat family settled in the village of Ay, owning vines in “Le Léon” vineyard, located in the heart of the Champagne Pinot Noir wine-growing area. Nowadays classified Grand Cru, this plot is still owned by the familly and this is where this cuvée is from.
