Product description

Mercurey is named after the roman temple built here to honour the god Mercury. With 1,600 acres, 85 vineyard parcels and 32 premier crus, the Mercurey appellation is the largest of the Côte Chalonnaise appellations. Vines are planted on limestone-dominated soils, with a south-northern exposure. The name "Les Combins" comes from the local rolling topography (in French a "Combe" is a valley). Grapes are harvested by hand, put into 25 Kg capacity boxes and taken to the winery as fast as possible.

Tasting Notes

The nose has a subtle blend of citrus and red fruits with spices and a hint of tobacco. Frank and linear, it has a very dense structure and pleasant tannins on a limestone backdrop.
Mercurey 1er Cru Les Combins will perfectly accompany your aperitifs with friends (tapas with chorizo, cured ham or Corsican dry sausage for example). For drinking with a meal we recommend braised beef, couscous and tajine or cheese such as Epoisses.
Serve at 17°C. Keep between 5 and 7 years
