Bache-Gabrielsen VS Cognac 40% 1L
Product description
The story behind "Tre Kors" dates back to the Norwegian prohibition era of 1916-1926. Since liquor was only available for medicinalpurposes, young Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen cleverly replaced the three existing stars (former VS naming) on the cognac label with threecrosses (in norwegian: Tre Kors). This blend combines the vigour of its youngest "eaux-de-vie" with the first drops of a more mature Cognac.Tre Kors is blended from 25% Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne and 75% Fins Bois cognac. It is matured in casks for minimum 2 years. Deep amber colour. Lively, youthful bouquet marked by fruit and with something of the character of young Grande Champagne. Soft, rounded attack, but a relatively light, fruity finish. This is the story of prohibition and Norwegian ingenuity. During the period 1916–1926 the sale of liquor was prohibited. Liquor could still be obtained on prescription, however, and never before has a nation been so ill. Cognac was only available for "medicinal purposes", and young Bache-Gabrielsen was quick to act. The three existing stars on the cognac label (VS) were replaced with three crosses. To this day, this cognac remains the most popular. A young and relatively unembellished VS, primarily based on Fins Bois. The story behind "Tre Kors" dates back to the Norwegian prohibition era of 1916-1926.
