The available vintage may differ from the one shown in the image. The Côte Chalonnaise is the geographical continuity of the Côte d'Or and, as such, has the same kind of soils and the same climate. However, the line of the hills is not as regular as in the Côte d'Or. The red wines which represent the greater part of the production are fruity and generous. One emblematic appellation stands our amongst others: Mercurey, producing aromatic, flavoursome wines. It is said that Gabrielle d'Estrée, Henri IV's mistress was very fond of Mercuery wines.
