San Polino's Brunello die Montalcino is made only in the very best exceptional vintages. The vineyards are of higher and therefore cooler locations. At 450 meters above sea level and a mixture of sandy loam and volcanic rock. Fermented spontaneously and then left on the skins for over 50 days, the Riserva was then aged for 6 months in French barriques and then 4 years in large Slavonian wood. This is already an insanely complex wine! Plum, red cherry and a smorgasbord of dried flowers and herbs. Then in the mouth the full Brunello power is unpacked, that really pops! An intense framework of finely structured tannin hints at the long time on the skins. Everything is harmonious and in brilliant balance, and so this Riserva will develop into a great drinking pleasure with a little more bottle maturity. Great!
